About Gunflint Designs

In 2016 I uploaded my first video to YouTube. It was a simple project, and my only goal was to teach myself filming and video editing skills. For the last 12 years I have worked full-time as a photographer and graphic designer, working exclusively in static imagery. Now, I find that I enjoy the video part even more and use my professional background to enhance it.

I grew up working on two separate tree farms in Southern Minnesota, one on my Mom’s side, and one on my Dad’s side of the family. With two grandfathers who both had the same vision in their lives, you could say I was destined to take a liking to hard work and creating things.

I am almost four years into this adventure in content creation, and with the support of my family (who loves to appear in my projects), I am planning to put in even more time and effort. 2020 marks the start of transitioning from running Gunflint Designs as a hobby, into a full time career. 

We recently moved from Wyoming, back near our childhood homes in Southern Minnesota. With these huge life changes comes the opportunity for even more content, because I am back near the family tree farms. These farms have always been the source of my lumber over the years, and now I will be adding a lot more tree farming related content to the channel, in addition to the project-based woodworking that my audience is accustomed to.
